The Terrace or Balcony Garden Package

Our Terrace or Balcony Garden Package helps clients utilise terraces to set up an organic vegetable garden, so they can make use of under-used spaces and ample sunlight to create diverse and amazingly productive vegetable gardens. Growing is typically undertaken in containers, grow-bags or specialised container-like spaces that can be created with bricks.

Terrace or Balcony Garden Package

Creating larger gardening space for growing food seems virtually impossible to find in the city – unless you look up to the terraces. We help individuals and housing societies make use of these “wasted” spaces for growing fresher, tastier and healthier vegetables. These are typically between 30 to 100 sq mts in size – though we dream of converting the entire roof of a shopping mall for growing someday.

We’ve had very good results with this approach when:

  1. Our clients are really involved in the growing process, and you want to become the expert
  2. You make the time to be involved in the operational processes directly instead of complete outsourcing them to the gardener/maali.
  3. Your interest is a long-term one, and not just a passing fancy – sorry 🙂
  4. You have a reliable gardener or maali to assist or are willing to put in the physical work themselves

NOTE: (A) Not everyone needs this service, many gardeners manage very well by just dropping in at one of our workshops or sending their gardeners across to learn at one of our gardens. (B) Winter is the most rewarding season to start your vegetable growing in Goa or Mumbai.

While the working model that we suggest and the costs vary on the type, size and location of the garden we are working on, the broad approach is {you can pick combinations – like only item 1) OR item 1) + 2) OR 1)+2)+3)} as follows:

1) An Organic Garden Design stage: In which we create a layout plan and planting chart for your season. This is a necessary part of any project that we undertake. This involves a one time fee.

2) The Balcony Garden Setup monitoring stage: Which involves a series of visits – 2 to 6 days depending on the size of the garden – to supervise your garden staff in the process to be followed. Soil improvement is the critical activity, as is ensuring that the design is followed correctly. The costs for this varies depending on the nature of your garden, but involves several visits of about 2-3 hour duration. The fee is a daily visit charge for this stage.

3) The Growing guidance stage: These are about 8 to 10 coaching/teaching visits made after the setup stage is completed and involve visiting regularly to make sure that young plants are growing well and the organic gardening processes are followed correctly. The visits also provide the opportunity to address problems related to pests or disease and answer any queries that you may have.

There is a fee for each visit and you can opt for a “Call When Necessary” model – we are happy to try and address queries via email (if you can send us images).
